Rosh Hashanah
Stories of new beginnings and forgiveness to help children grow in their understanding of Rosh Hashanah. Audiences are treated to a wide diversity of puppets and puppetry styles with beautiful staging and original music. Some stories are interactive: all have positive messages!
Yom Kippur
Stories to help children use Yom Kippur to re-set for the new year. Caravan brings classic Jewish folk tales, biblical stories, and contemporary children’s stories to help children explore and celebrate Yom Kippur!
Stories include:
Rabbi Adam – Rabbi Adam, a Jewish folk hero, gains the forest animals’ trust to help rescue his people in this wonderful folk tale from the collection, Miriam’s Tambourine. An interactive story (kids hold puppets!) with finger and hand puppets.
The Crowded House – A farmer complains to the rabbi that his house is too crowded, with hilarious results, and a happy solution. This totally interactive story (kids hold puppets) helps children to appreciate what they have.
Noah and the Dove – Noah picks the humblest animal to go exploring.
The Cat – A young inventor learns a great lesson… from his cat!
The Snake in the Wall – Rabbi Akiva’s daughter learns that kindness is rewarded.
The Bubbe and The Bear – A lonely bear apologizes for his actions and gains a family’s trust (and kugel!) in this adaptation of Jaqueline Jules’s story Once Upon a Shabbos. An interactive tale with large rod puppets and a big bear!
