A wondrous collection of Jewish folk tales. Audiences are treated to a wide diversity of puppets and puppetry styles with beautiful staging and original music. Some stories are highly interactive: all have positive messages!

Our large repertoire (and love of finding new tales!) has enabled us to create many programs for requested themes and settings. Scroll down for a partial list of the themes we have presented…

The Fox in the Vineyard – In this story from the Midrash, the greedy fox tries to sneak into the vineyard, but it costs him more to get the grapes than they are worth!

The Crowded House – A farmer complains to the rabbi that his house is too crowded, with hilarious results and a happy solution. An interactive story with finger puppets.

No Bears In Amherst – Bear is hungry and grumpy. It takes a Bubbe to realize that he’s actually lonely!

Rabbi Adam and the Magic Well – Rabbi Adam, a Jewish folk hero, rescues his people from the evil vizier in the tale from the classic folk tale book Miriam’s Tambourine. An interactive tale (kids hold puppets!) with finger and hand puppets.

Yankel the Dreamer – All Yankel wants is wealth! he follows his dreams, and learns that the importance of wealth is to be generous.

Audience Reviews

Jonathan and Karen could not have been any better. Children and parents alike were thrilled with the performance. The program was engaging, educational, and truly interactive. The puppets were a treat to look at. He explained how many of the puppets were made with found objects. The following Storytime two sisters each brought a puppet they had made. Their grandmother said that one of the girls had seen an open pod on the ground and declared it to be a pig’s nose. Their puppets were imaginative and completely inspired by Jonathan.

Thank you for the wonderful artist-in-residency program! It was an outstanding learning experience for both students and staff, and I have had great feedback from parents and teachers. The students have also been enthusiastic about the program, and I believe that this was evident during your time here.

Aesop’s Fables” was delightful, educational, fun and funny. Caravan’s show demonstrates Aesop’s age-old morals in a sweet, humorous and very kid-friendly way. Our students, aged 4-10, loved every minute of it.

We brought Caravan to PS 140 and PS 60 in the Bronx to dramatize Aesop. Teachers and their classes were engaged and delighted. Mr. Keezing is a master puppeteer who, along with an instructive show, also teaches children how to be a good audience.

On Behalf of the Administrators, Faculty, Parents and Students of P.S. 140, I wish to thank you for bringing Caravan Puppets to our school. This event provided an invaluable opportunity for students to see and experience the excitement on satisfaction of a live puppet show. There have been many positive comments and enthusiastic discussions on this puppet show since your presentation. It enhances our classroom curriculum by integrating the Arts into Literacy and other subjects.

Jonathan has exceptional creative talent along with the ability to share it with children of all ages. With the younger children, he is animated and nurturing. The older children respond to his creativity and his ability to reach out to them for their input. We hope that Jonathan will work with us again.

Jonathan Keezing, a masterful puppeteer, has introduced to our students. Jonathan s programs are professionally assembled and performed and always have a strong educational foundation. We highly recommend that any school program incorporate Jonathan Keezing s programs into it s curriculum.

Jonathan is an wonderful creative talent. His shows are funny and usually contain a message sensitive to our diverse community. The message is always situated in a funny and very entertaining story. His puppets are often made out of unusual materials – they are visually arresting and capture the children s imagination. They also inspire us to make puppets and to have puppet shows.
