Classic stories from Asia! Audiences are treated to a wide diversity of puppets and puppetry styles with beautiful staging and original music. Some stories are interactive, all have positive messages!

The Sleeping Dragon – Little mouse tries to wake the biggest dragon with inappropriate methods. Finally, with audience help, a whisper works where all else fails. Hand, and a unique lap puppet are used. China.

Momotaro, The Peach Boy – An interactive (children hold the puppets!) story of a boy who saves his village from demons, with animal helpers. Japan

Puppet Making! – Making animal puppets to use in “Momotaro, then to keep. Japan.

Tokoyo – A brave girl rescues her samurai father (from a sea monster!) in this classic Japanese fairy tale. We learned this story while touring Japan.

The Boy Who Drew Cats – A boy finds his life path, and saves his village with his art. With shadow puppets. Japan.

Jonathan and Karen could not have been any better. Children and parents alike were thrilled with the performance. The program was engaging, educational, and truly interactive. The puppets were a treat to look at. He explained how many of the puppets were made with found objects. The following Storytime two sisters each brought a puppet they had made. Their grandmother said that one of the girls had seen an open pod on the ground and declared it to be a pig’s nose. Their puppets were imaginative and completely inspired by Jonathan.

Jonathan is an wonderful creative talent. His shows are funny and usually contain a message sensitive to our diverse community. The message is always situated in a funny and very entertaining story.
